Interact with Your Children with a Train Set

People of all ages can enjoy building model railways. Both parents and children can get a lot out of building and operating model rail systems.

The Hornby name has been associated with top quality model railways since way back in the early 1900’s. This early guage ‘0′ model was originally powered with a powerful wind up clockwork motor. These were soon replaced with an Electric model that required a high mains voltage of 100 to 250 volts. Sensibly, by 1929 Hornby had developed a safe, 6 volt system.

There are many, varied Hornby train sets, from beginner level through to enthusiast. Without doubt, building a railway system with your children is fantastic way to interact and spend time with them. It can stimulate communication, it can help develop cooperation and aid education. When parents play with their children they reinforce the parent-child bonds.

Once built a model railway provides a fantastic stimulus for creative play. Its great to encourage children to make up stories about the trains and people who might be using the system. A few accessories like buildings and model people can really bring the railway system alive.

Play is well known to be essential in a childs development. Parents playing with their children is particularly beneficial. Playing with your children can help you to learn more about them. There is much that you will learn about your child including what interests them and what they are good at. You can stimulate their creativity by helping them to make up stories around the model rail system. Observing your child while they play is also an excellent way to see how your child is developing.

I recall the fun I had building a model rail system with my father. My fathers enthusiasm for the train system was infectious. He and I would make up elaborate stories involving the people around the track, the stations and the trains.

If you want a great way to have fun with your children then a train set could be just what you need.
