Admittedly I think more boys will remember this memory than girls but I think that’s expected. I remember going with my dad to the nearby park and driving this old electric remote control car for hours. It was so much fun trying to make it go as fast as possible then of course flipping it over and breaking it, but nevertheless a lot of fun! That day sparked my passion for RC cars and I have never looked back since.

In my opinion speed is everything! For people who are just starting I would recommend to go electric they have good top speeds and are very easy to maintain. You don’t need to spend loads of cash on cars to achieve good speed, I would recommend starting with an electric car which is easy to maintain and quick as well as also allowing you to build your knowledge.

For outright speed RC nitro cars is the only this to go for! They provide so much more speed than electric cars however there not easy to maintain. You’re going to need to maintain the air cleaners, glo-plugs etc for nitro cars because of their nitro engines. Nitro cars do work much more like your car at home than electric cars which does have its benefits. Nitro engines have clutches and do take time to spool up. As a result you also get the benefit of the car actually sounding like a normal car not a toy! They can be driven for longer periods and only take a few seconds to be refuelled. The amount of time and the knowledge needed will scare people however I personally could never go back to electric. Although if you do feel you can put in the time to maintain these cars I don’t think you will regret it, the speed and the amount of fun to be had driving them is second to none!
