Some novice candle artists think that beeswax candles are more difficult to create than other kinds because of the gummy texture and expensive raw ingredient. However, as soon as you get into the beeswax candle making process, you’ll learn that beeswax is an extremely user-friendly ingredient to utilize for handmade candle making. You can either roll the beeswax or you can utilize the conventional method, i.e. melting the wax and transferring into molds or containers. Unfortunately beeswax is more costly than other types of candle making components, which could make it unsuitable for business use.

However, what you should realize is that people really like beeswax candles because of their aroma and overall texture. This sort of candles won’t leave a sooty blot on your walls if you utilize these candles for ornament. People will gladly pay more for the mild honey aroma that is typical of beeswax. These are ideal for use in the dining table during a proper dinner. Can you envision the revenue margins you can reach if you master the art of making beeswax candles?

Before you start your beeswax candle making at home, here are a number of tidbits of information about beeswax. It is a gooey substance harvested from hives. The unprocessed or unfiltered beeswax is harvested by beekeepers and sold in shops. More often than not, beeswax can be purchased in wholesale from beehive keepers and honey wholesalers. You can conserve a lot on beeswax raw components if you can find some beekeepers in your vicinity and order your beeswax directly from the farm.

You can make beeswax candles at home and then share these with your family and friends during special events. It takes so little effort to make a few beeswax candles, wrap them in packages and send them to friends and family. Another way of sharing your beeswax candle sideline with friends is by giving beeswax candle making kits instead of the candles. Like you, your friends would love to produce candles but they don’t know where to start. By sending them beeswax candle making kits, you are conveying your awareness of their imaginative talents and encouraging them to open up their candle making ability.

Inside each kit, you’ll find beeswax in sheets or in blocks. Make sure you ask your supplier which type of beeswax your candle making kit contains to be sure. Sheets of beeswax can be used to create rolled beeswax candles, while blocks can be used for the conventional procedure. If you’ve more friends to share your hobby with, you should purchase your beeswax candle making kits in bulk. Just ensure that each kit contains all the materials your friends will need like wicks and dyes.

One last thing you should bear in mind if you plan on buying beeswax candle making kits on a wholesale basis. Craft stores periodically have bargains on candle crafting supplies, especially wax, because of the shelf life of these natural materials. This means you possibly will get your beeswax candle making kits at a massive discount if you keep a close eye on the inventory sale schedules in your region. In fact, many craft suppliers run sales on candle making items before and right after the holidays. This can be a good time to stock up on your beeswax candle making stores.

The warm illuminating glow it emits. That wonderfully sweet scent as your candle dims. Sigh! Few people are aware of how fun creating beeswax candles can be!

The art of beeswax candlemaking is a wonderful DIY project for your children. Since there is no melting of wax, the kids do not need to be near a hot stove. Creating beeswax candles is a nifty project for kids because it doesn’t leave a mess and the materials are easily sourced.

Making Beeswax Candles Tips - Items that You Do Need

8 inch by 16 inch sheets of beeswax

Primed wick sliced for a one inch candle

A small paring knife from your kitchen

Flat open surface

How to Make Beeswax Candles

Lay out your sheet of beeswax

Slice wick approximately 3/4 inches longer than wax sheet (allowing excess on both sides of candle)

Leaving available wick at each ends allows you the choice to decide which side of the candle you prefer as the top and which side the bottom.

Lay the wick on the tip of the sheet and then, after folding it on top of 1/8 of an inch of wax, proceed with rolling. The wick would be safely enclosed when you use the seam. Pushing firmly from left to right continue to roll the beeswax forward around the wick with your fingertips, making sure the beeswax is wrapped tight and straight as you go. This is probably the most difficult step thorughout the process of making candles.

Another thing you can do is use either a cutting board or counter corner as you create a seam (1/8 inches) by flipping the wax overthen folding it down. Whether you go with the first or the latter, do be sure your efforts produce a textbook-quality seam.

Candle thickness is something you need to consider when you’re making your candle. The thicker you want, the more beeswax you will need to add. This is done by placing the extra sheet of wax edge to edge with the original & using your fingers to gently meld the pieces together. Rolling beeswax into a straight line can be tricky so make sure you only stop when it’s wrapped around itself completely.

With your thumbs, press the corners of the beeswax down softly upon reaching the end. Continue going along the whole length of the candle creating an invisible seam.

Select what could be the ideal part to serve as the candle’s top then shave the wick 1/2 inches from the wax. Don’t forget to remove the remaining wick from the bottom.

Even if the children don’t understand the true pleasurable part, you do. Now, get on and set your candle alight to celebrate your wonderful project and let the intoxicating scent of success wash over you! And as for your little ones? And voila — their very own candles!

Be aware that the next steps for candlemaking are not much different with what others in your place had done centuries ago. In the beginning the purpose was to create light…a critical requirement in those instances. These days though majority of its enthusiasts view making beeswax candles as a leisure. Or it can be for a variety of reasons. As cited earlier on, a lot of people look upon this project as a recreational pursuit. Sometimes however, it is for giving as a gift on special occasions. A craft project like wax candle making is considered kid-friendly by most parents. Finally, the last reason is profit. There are those who learn candle making in hopes of making money from it.

The warm illuminating glow it emits. That sweet and pleasant smell as the candle glimmers. Sigh! Making beeswax candles is truly a “ton” of fun!

Making beeswax candles is a great “hands on” project for the kids. Don’t worry about kids having to get within one foot of a hot stove because this project doesn’t involve any burning wax. Beeswax candle making is a neat and tidy project with easy-to-find materials.

Making Beeswax Candles Tips - Items that You Do Need

8 inch by 16 inch sheets of beeswax

Primed wick sliced for a one inch candle

A small paring knife from your kitchen

Flat open surface

Learn to Make Beeswax Candles

Lay out your sheet of beeswax

Slice wick approximately 3/4 inches longer than wax sheet (allowing excess on both sides of candle)

Leaving available wick at each ends allows you the choice to decide which side of the candle you prefer as the top and which side the bottom.

Lay wick on edge of sheet and begin to start rolling beeswax by folding over 1/8 inch of wax. You can ensure that the wick would be properly enclosed by the seam. While rolling the wax forward and having it circle the wick tightly with your finger tips, remember to push it from one side to another. This is arguably the hardest part in the entire process of beeswax candlemaking.

Another option would be flipping the wax then folding it down to form a seam—about 1/8 inches—with a counter corner or perhaps a cutting board. Either or – just make sure you obtain a perfect seam in the process.

Candle thickness is something you need to consider when you’re making your candle. To increase the candle’s thickness, use more beeswax. Do this by placing the additional wax sheet edge to edge with the original, melding the pieces together with your thumb. When rolling the beeswax, make sure you do so in a straight line and continue until the very end.

When you get to the end, gently push the edges of the beeswax down with your thumbs. As you continue working on other parts of the candle, imagine making a seam as you go.

Determine which part would work well as top for your candle then slash half an inch off the wick above the beeswax. Do not forget to start from the bottom as you remove the rest of the wick.

Your kids might not appreciate the finer parts of this project but you would. So go ahead, ceremoniously light your glorious achievement, inhale the exotic perfume and enjoy this splendid moment! And as for the kids? And there it is — candles that your kids made by themselves!

And while you are learning to make wax candles keep in mind that the makings of candles have been here for centuries. In the beginning the purpose was to create light…a critical requirement in those instances. But at present, a lot of people simply take up candlemaking for recreational purposes. There could be a number of other reasons for it. As mentioned above, this activity is often taken up for personal purposes. Sometimes however, it is for giving as a gift on special occasions. A lot of parents consider craft projects, such as making wax candles, ideal for their kids. Lastly, there’s the money-making potential to consider. There are also people who make candles for a living.

There is a great deal of information about candles and making them that can be found on the internet, and while it is advisable to make sure that it is indeed good information , the wealth of knowledge at our finger tips is unbelievable. For example, you can find out how to make beeswax candles, or you can find out why soy candles are in so much demand these days. You can find out where to get the best quality candle making supplies, and you can work out costs before you purchase any supplies.

Computers have brought so much information to millions of people, along with some negatives of course, but when you look at candle making at home, you can easily check advice, and use the method that sounds best to you. There are many different types of candles that you can make, and a variety of colors, aromas and shapes for to choose from, there are a lot of options for the candlemaking process at home.

For example, bees wax is sold in flat sheets of wax with a selection of colors, and each sheet can make two bees wax candles just by cutting the sheet in half. Then, these sheets of wax are then rolled tightly around a wick of a suitable length and that’s all there is to having a beeswax candle all ready to light.

However, if you are going to make candles from gel so that you can customize them with embedded trinkets, then you need to melt the gel in a double boiler, or equivalent, to a high temperature. The same thing applies to making soy candles, or paraffin wax candles, the wax has to be melted first.

The reason this is so important is that candles made from beeswax can be made by people of all ages at home or anywhere, since there is no heating of the wax to worry about. For bees wax candles you do need to warm the candle wax a little to seal the edge of the wax sheet to itself, but this can easily be done just with the warmth from your fingers – no stove is needed. So beeswax candles are ideal for children who like to make a craft, perhaps for mother’s day as they require few supplies, and few skills.

Should the project not be to your liking, the good thing about wax is that you can just heat it to melt it so you can begin again. So if the beeswax sheet of wax gets broken, it can always be carefully melted by an adult, and poured into a glass container, with a wick added of course. Because of this there is little waste when candle making, because you can always just make a fresh start. You can also melt all the remaining pieces of candles left when they have burnt through, and with all the bits of wax, you will probably be able to make at least one more candle.

Whatever design of candles you prefer to make, candle making is a good pastime to do at home on those cold winter evenings. To begin with, by melting the wax, you will feel a little warmer, since it is not advisable for you to leave the melting wax unattended. Besides the warmth from the stove, there are the different aromas you can choose, that may bring back memories of your youth, perhaps. Undoubtably, to make candles at home on a miserable winter’s night, so you have something lovely to show for your efforts by the end of the evening, is a pleasant way of spending an evening.
